Your long term goals help set your intention for the future you would like to create. Getting clear about those goals has a BIG impact on motivating you to take the action required.

Creating business plans is all about chunking down your goals into bite-sized pieces that you can action. Moving from goals to milestones to plans to actions, is just chunking it down into smaller and smaller bites. If something feels overwhelming just keep breaking it into smaller chunks.

One last thing… plans should be reviewed and updated regularly. The review cycle is ongoing, and both plans and goals should be updated regularly to reflect what you’ve learnt along the way, with adjustments to both your short and long term goals.

 

A step-by-step process

  1. Review & update your Business vision or long term goals

  2. Identify your current year or annual Business goals

  3. Identify your quarterly goals & projects for the current year

  4. Identify ONE or TWO goals for the first 90 days

  5. What are the milestones & initiatives to achieve your 90 day goals

  6. Within each milestone identify the actions required

  7. Ensure each action has a who, what, and when identified

IMPORTANT: if following this sequence of steps is difficult then try using the A3 worksheet to complete the chunks you DO KNOW. Often the other chunks start falling into place far more easily than expected.
